WELCOME TO ELECTION DAY!!!
Things are busy here at Cranston with Election Day upon us and our SLLWs just around the corner on Wednesday and Thursday evening.
There will also be Family Picture Night on Thursday evening.
Our day today has been spent learning about poetry and some of the figurative language that goes with poetry and descriptive writing in general. We shared some poems from Jack Prelutsky who taught us that poems can rhyme...or not...and they can have shapes....or not....and they can be just plain silly.
We then took what we learned about figurative language and we poured it into our six room poem that we began planning on Friday with Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Ellison. Mr. McDougall (with the help of the us) modeled how to write the six room poem about leaves and then we made our own poem. After that we wrote our new poem on our leaf artwork.
For homework write an example of one of the figures of speech that you learned about this morning! Be imaginative!!!
We are in need of 5 more babies, ages 6 months and younger, to participate in our Roots of Empathy program. If you have family members, friends or neighbours who would be willing to volunteer 45 minutes/month with their babies to the school we would love to talk to them! Please contact Mrs. Susanne Jones at the office 403-777-6267 ext. '0' for further information or if you would like the school to contact them directly. Thanks so much! Roots of Empathy begins in classrooms over the next two weeks and we would love to go forward with a full complement of 14 baby teachers!
Thank you!
Mrs. Kinsman (Principal)
