Dear Parents and Students,
This was another exciting day at Cranston School beginning with a nice light snowfall to usher in the morning. Please make sure that you are continuing to dress properly for our ever cooling weather.
We practiced our Jeff Stockton stories that we will be building out using our own words and actions in the upcoming days through the use of a storyboard.
We both had math today. The grade 4s learned about rounding and the use of a Frere model. The grade 3s learned how to use dice to create a 2-digit and 3-digit number and then determined if the number was multiple of 4 by using the strategies of skip counting or the hundreds charts that we used during a previous lesson.
Ms. Brierley, led us in a science lesson today that explored the different shapes that we encountering our building that help the construction and supports of a building. We then returned to the class to build an example of what we thought was the strongest shape and will test them on Wednesday.
Your homework for today is to respond back to the blog a type of BEAM that you have researched and found out to be commonly used when constructing buildings nowadays.
